The building has been designed to provide flexible office accommodation around a central hall, an informal meeting place. Departments are able to enlarge or shrink according to demand, while still maintaining an efficient and straightforward circulation pattern. The custody suite providing 20 cells has been designed within tight Home Office guidelines tailored to meet Wiltshire Constabularies specific requirements and further researched with The Metropolitan Police Authority.

It stands four square to the roundabout of Semington Road presenting a two storey colonnaded elevation in stone render with a sun protecting roof supported on steel brackets. On the Public Entrance façade the colonnade is terminated by a projecting canopy over the recessed entrance. The ground floor exterior brick wall continues to form the enclosing walls of the Secure Yard and Restaurant building. Roofs are extended and supported on simple steelwork columns & beams forming covered routes and parking bays. The materials for the Headquarters have been selected to maintain an historic continuity with locality. The perimeter of the site has a meadow grass banked verge and hedge, inter planted with native hardwood trees, the buildings themselves constructed in mellow brick with stone window surrounds that typifies and reflects the natural resources of the immediate area.
